Hi Ross,

This is a fantastic resource for someone who needs motivation in their lives. I particularly like the fact that people are motivated by different things and at different times in their lives.

It's really important, too, to stay in the flow once you have been inspired and motivated. So often we try to force the issue and think we can be inspired at whim but it doesn't happen that way. Our motivation ebbs and flows, too so when you are highly motivated, that's when you can make the most positive changes in your life.

Thanks for sharing this,

Peer pressure is a big societal influence - that's what drives us to the $ and playing sports we hate and the like - but you're definitely right. If we don't truly care and have a powerful "WHY", we have no chance pitted against others who have true dedication behind their attentions.

Thanks for the comment!

Very thoughtful post, Ross. (great name btw, my brother is a Ross)

Couldn't agree more with the 'Why' part of the post. In my work with pro and amateur athletes, I often see them set goals without considering the motivation or reason why behind their goals.

Frequently they'll set a goal because it's what they think others want them to do or what they're expected to do. It's a horrible cycle, because they'll usually leave a trail of unfinished goals or find a feeling of emptiness at the end of the journey.

Plus when faced with adversity or resistance they'll often quit.

Like I tell them, 'The person with the biggest WHY will always Win. It comes down to who's hungriest."

Set a goal, than write out at least 25 reasons why you want it... like clockwork I've seen people mind their true motivation at #17 or #24. It's amazing.

Thanks for the expose. :)
